Now we got excited too when we were heard David Beckham was returning to his former football club’s home ground Old Trafford, but hold your horses because he’s not coming back to football.

Becks is joining Unicef for a charity footie match next month and surprise, surprise he wants X Factor judge and radio DJ Nick Grimshaw to join him. Wait. Can Grimmy play football?

Golden balls, as they used to call him in his heyday, revealed the news of the event on Grimmy’s radio show this morning and teased Grimmy about his skills on the pitch.

Becks joked: "I'd love you to come and play on the right wing if you can… I am a big fan of your football skills."

Posting on Instagram about the charity event, the dad-of-four shared: "I never thought that I would be putting my boots back on but it's for a great cause, the incredible work of @unicef for children.

"I'm honoured to be playing at Old Trafford again, captaining a Great Britain & Ireland team managed by the great Sir Alex Ferguson against a Rest of the World side captained by my friend @zidane and managed by the legend, @mrancelotti I hope to see you there @manchesterunited on November 14th.

"Tickets on sale from today at www.manutd.com/tickets #MatchForChildren @unicef."

And if that wasn’t exciting enough, his former manager and Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson will be returning to the touchline for some fun and frolics.

Almost three years ago did Becks retire from the sport having also played for Real Madrid, AC Milan, LA Galaxy and Paris Saint-Germain.

While speaking to Grimmy, Mr David Beckham also spoke about Victoria Beckham and how they parent their children.

The 40-year-old admitted: "Victoria is the strict one. "I think the kids are definitely more scared of Victoria than myself!" We imagine Victoria being the more strict one.
