Declan Donnelly attempts to melt our hearts by describing romantic proposal to fiancee Ali Astall

In case you haven’t noticed (maybe you just want to forget it), it’s Valentine’s Day which might mean you’ve finished stuffing your face full of chocolates and you’re now munching on the petals off your bunch of flowers.

Well, it seems in the run up to the big day of love, some celebs got all excited and have blubbed words of romance from their lips.

One of these stars is Declan Donnelly off that Ant and Dec, who has opened up about the time he proposed to his manager Ali Astall in November last year, and it’s all really rather lovely.

The television presenter flew out to Australia ahead of his run on I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and took Ali to an island off the coast of the land Down Under.

Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, he said: “It got to the last evening and we’d organised dinner on the beach and we went round to one side of the island, the only place on the island where you can see the sun set, and we just went round and we watched the sunset go down and we did it there, it was lovely.”

Dec asked his television presenting mate Ant McPartlin to be his best man after Dec was Ant’s best man at his wedding in 2006.

And it seems Ant can’t wait to take on the job, saying: “I can’t bloody wait! He was best man for me, I’ve been married eight years now. His speech was very good, very funny so I’ve got a lot to get him back with!”
