In a posh London hotel, below a gigantic image of her own album cover - which sees Demi Lovato in pants and a basque – the refreshingly frank star (who’s gained fans through her honesty about her eating disorders and addictions) tells heat about her battle with her body image.

“For someone who’s preached about body image, to go onstage [when she toured last September] in head-to-toe clothing, that was a sign of somebody that was not totally secure with their body,” says Demi.

“I wasn’t happy with my body image and part of me preaching was me trying to convince myself.”

The star decided things needed to change.

“I wanted to show you can survive an eating disorder and have the confidence to show yourself,” she adds. “For me to say all that, then go onstage in layers and sweat – I was miserable. I was hot, but I didn’t want to show my arms.”
