Dermot O'Leary was filming a documentary for Comic Relief in Kenya, when he was nearly caught up in a fatal car accident.

The TV presenter, who is set to take part in a danceathon for the charity event, was filming a documentary with three homeless boys in the city of Kisumu, when a car crashed into a ditch just "feet away" from where they were all sleeping rough.

Luckily Dermot and the boys escaped unharmed, but the Comic Relief twitter alerted users to the danger they were all in - and how they all cheated death.

"A car has crashed into a ditch feet away from the boys" they wrote.

"Everyone is fine, but a big lucky escape. Shaken up by the near miss the boys are chatting with @radioleary – main topics snow and Arsenal.

"It’s an incredibly vulnerable place to sleep which is why they stick together".

Dermot tweeted later on:

"Thanks for all the support for the last 24 hours here in Kenya @rednoseday met some pretty special little fellas."

Phew, we're relieved Dermot and the boys were OK!

Dermy's 24-hour dance marathon for the charity will happen this Thursday, ahead of Red Nose Day on March 13.
