Dermot O’Leary and The Stig to host new driving show!

Putting the fun back into Saturday nights. Yay.

RIP Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, BUT HELLO Dermot O'Leary and The Stig on a new Saturday night driving show!

And although it's great news that Chris Evans has taken over TG, because he's really into cars and stuff, but why do we think we'll be more tuned in for Dermy's new BBC One show The Getaway Car? It even sounds super cool.

Featuring TG's "tame racing driver" the show will see families and friends compete in a set of driving challenges.

And although The Stig is yet to comment, Dermot is VERY excited about his new venture, which will air next year.

"We all think we are great drivers, but what tickled me most is seeing how people, who obviously love each other very much, speak to each other when they are behind the wheel of a car," said the former X Factor presenter. "It brings out the worst in all of us... but in a fun way."

What's that Stig? Stig: "..." (This will make for a great show).

The announcement comes less than two weeks after former Top Gear hosts unveiled a deal to work for Amazon Prime.

Dermy, who presented The X Factor for eight years on ITV and left after the last series, tweeted his new excitement and said:

Continuing about his new show, Dermot added: “It brings out the worst in all of us... but in a fun way. It's a warm show that will stretch a family’s patience with those they love most in the world.

"I had a whale of a time doing the pilot and now can't wait to make the series.”

Jeremy's contract ended with the BBC after he punched a member of staff during a "fracas", who is also teaming up with former Top Gear producer Andy Wilman to make three, 12-episode series for Amazon Prime.

No doubt it'll be a bit of rivalry for Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans, who was named as the new host of Top Gear in June.
