Michelle Dockery’s boyfriend of two years, John Dineen has died. According to the* Irish Examiner*, John passed away at Cork's Marymount Hospital on Sunday following an illness. Michelle, who plays Lady Mary in Downton Abbey, is said to be devastated at his passing.
The couple are thought to have been dating since 2013, after begin introduced by Michelle’s Downton co-star Allen Leech. Some reports claim the couple were engaged but this has not been verified.
“I have a wonderful man in my life from Ireland,” Michelle said in an interview last year. “We were introduced by Allen Leech. That's all you need to know.”
Michelle and John kept their romance out of the spotlight but were pictured together enjoying the tennis at Wimbledon in the summer of 2014.
