It has been reported US drugs regulators ordered Kim Kardashian to delete an Instagram post which promoted a morning sickness drug.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, who last month revealed she never does commercial deals that force her to make positive endorsements on the social media platform, promoted a drug called Diclegis on Insta.

"OMG. Have you heard about this? As you guys know my #morningsickness has been pretty bad," she posted to her 42 million Twitter followers linking to her Instagram page, referencing the drug.

The post on Insta, which saw Kim cheek-to-cheek with the drug, also read: “I’m so excited and happy with my results that I’m partnering with [drug maker] Duchesnay USA to raise awareness about treating morning sickness.”

But the Food and Drinks Administration, who ordered the drug's maker to stop promoting the product in this manner, has attacked the post for failing to flag potential side effects.

"Most importantly, it's been studied and there was no increased risk to the baby," continued Kim on her post.

The pregnant mum also provided a link to the drug firm's own related safety warnings, but did describe the potential risks herself.

"The social media post is misleading because it presents various efficacy claims for Diclegis, but fails to communicate any risk information," FDA division director Robert Dean wrote in a complaint to the Canadian pharmaceutical manufacturer.

Kim's tweet about the drug.

"Because the violations described above are serious and repeated, we request, further, that your submission includes a comprehensive plan of action to disseminate truthful, non-misleading, and complete corrective messages about the issues discussed in this letter to the audiences that received the violative promotional materials."

It was ordered that the company needs to send out another post, ideally by Kim to contain the "truthful, non-misleading, and complete corrective messages about the issues discussed … to the audience that received the violative promotional material”.

In the UK it is illegal to advertise a prescription-only medicine to the public.
