Shona McGarty, who plays Whitney Dean in EastEnders has reportedly become the victim of a revenge porn plot.
The actress, who plays Queen Vic barmaid and girlfriend of Lee Carter, reportedly called in the police after a man attempted to circulate photographs taken of her when she was younger. The shocked 24-year-old fears the private pictures of her were stolen by a third party.
A source close to the star said: “The images date from a number of years ago and were really only ever intended as harmless fun, but now somebody is trying to make it seem like a sleazy scandal.
“It’s absolutely awful and very upsetting for Shona.
“She’s determined to do whatever necessary to prevent the circulation of these intimate pics.
“They were stolen a number of years ago and the thought that they are still being passed around all these years later is obviously a shock for her.
“It’s a good thing that a law has now been introduced to prevent this sort of thing.
“She does plan to report this to the police and use that to make sure this is the end of the matter.”
