The REAL reason Ed Sheeran’s wearing an engagement ring

It's sneaky AF

In recent weeks there has been much speculation as to why pop star Ed Sheeran is wearing an engagement ring. After announcing his engagement to long-term girlfriend Cherry Seaborn in January, many people thought he might have already secretly got married.

However, a couple of weeks ago Ed revealed in a TV interview that it was in fact an engagement ring. He went on to explain that he didn't see a reason why men shouldn't wear a ring if they're engaged.

But, in a more recent interview the 'Shape Of You' singer has given ANOTHER reason.

While on tour in Australia he spoke to a radio station when he was asked about his engagement ring again and explained, "It also means that nobody will know when we have got married."

Very clever!

The radio host Kyle then replied, "Ahh, I see what you’re trying to do! Throw everyone off the scent! I get it!"

With Ed replying "Yeah."

So there we have it, it looks like we might not know when the special day is, however we presume it will be quite a way off as last month Ed submitted a planning application for a chapel to be built on his land.

The planning application proposes a chapel made of flint in a Saxon style, with a round tower, with the application stating it is, "strictly non-denominational and for spiritual regeneration of both traditional and less traditional types".

It goes on to say, "The applicant seeks to provide both a religious and an ecumenical space in which he, his family and these different people (his guests) can retreat for contemplation or worship in peace and safety from disturbance."

Last month Ed performed his single 'Supermarket Flowers' at The BRIT Awards and we caught up with him backstage where he revealed what he wanted to do for his stag do and what his first dance would be.
