Over the last few weeks, there’s been a lot of talk about Ed Sheeran potentially performing for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at their wedding in May. And, frankly, we think he’d be the perfect fit for their first dance.

However, Ed’s now spoken out to address those rumours and explained it would quite literally be impossible due to his tour commitments.

Speaking to Kiss FM’s Tom Green backstage at the BRIT Awards 2018, Ed said: “I don’t know where that came from…

“This is what I don’t get, like press do all their research but look at my tour dates. And they’re like, ‘Oh, he’s in Ireland on the day of the wedding.’

He continued: “As I keep saying, I have met him once. I don’t know him as a…you know, he’s a really nice guy but I’ve met him once.”

Ed also gave as an insight into his plans for his own upcoming nuptials to Cherry Seaborn, telling Kiss his thoughts for the first dance.

“If I could pick now it would be an artist called Ben Kweller,” Ed revealed.

“Or, we’ve spoke about having Future’s ‘March Madness’. Maybe that would have to come after the romantic one. Not that Futures March Madness isn’t romantic.”

Speaking about his stag do, Ed added: “There will be a few I think.”

He went on to reveal he’s ruled out Vegas and would prefer to spend the weekend in a Whetherspoons. Sames, tbh.

“I’ll do a nice one with my dad and her dad. No Vegas! I kind of just want to go up north. Rent one of those Wetherspoons hotels or something and just have it, all you can drink! You know they do them now as package holidays. Like, I haven’t been sponsored by Wetherspoons but I read it."
