This year's TV BAFTAs brought a whole truckload of glam to London's Royal Festival Hall as we celebrated the best telly talent of the last year. There were dapper suits and sassy frocks galore (check them out here), but for us, one beaming ray of celeb sunshine stole the show.

Eleanor Tomlinson looked like a living, breathing mermaid in a floor length bejewelled dress and loose fishtail plait and we think it's fair to say she's our new girl crush.

So, we thought it was about time we carried out an in-depth investigation into just WHO exactly this GAWJUS actress is.

Who is Eleanor Tomlinson?

Eleanor Tomlinson is a London-born actress. Her first big film role came in 2006 when she played young Sophie in The Illusionist.

She then went on to star in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging (more on that later), Jack and the Giant Slayer and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Eleanor is also known for her role as Demelza in the BBC remake of Poldark.

How old is Eleanor Tomlinson?

At the time of writing Eleanor is 24 years old, her birthday is 19th May 1992.

Eleanor took on the role of Demelza in the BBC remake of Poldark in 2015.

Demelza is the feisty wife of title character Ross Poldark (played by Aiden Turner), but is looked down upon by the rest of the town for being a scullery maid.

The pair have been through some dark times. They tragically lost their daughter Julia, and faced a cheating scandal in the second series.

The third series has already been filmed and is rumoured to be broadcast next month.

Eleanor has previously opened up about having to film sex scenes with her on-screen husband Aidan, saying they're 'really fun' (we can imagine).

Speaking on This Morning in September 2016 about Aidan's reaction to becoming a sex symbol, she explained: "He's such a lovely person. I think he's a bit shy and finds it all a bit embarrassing. What's great about Aidan is that he's such a brilliant actor."

Eleanor Tomlinson in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging

Before the days when Eleanor was copping off with a shirtless Aidan Turner, she starred in what was probably the greatest film in the history of cinema: Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.

Eleanor played Jas, best friend to main character Georgia (played by Georgia Groome).

REMEMBER JAS? Her refusal to accompany Georgia as the cheese and pineapple stick to her stuffed olive will always be a sore point. That washing machine syndrome kiss with Robbie's (arguably better looking) brother was the stuff of teenage legend. And let's never forget the time she gave Georgia a 4 for her nose.

We still regular refer to the snogging scale, too (if you don't know, don't worry).

What's going on with Eleanor Tomlinson and Ed Westwick?

As well as looking an absolute DREAM at the TV BAFTAs Eleanor also caused a bit of a stir when she posed alongside mega FITLORD Ed Westwick.

Cue this hilarious tweet sparking rumours that the pair were an offish item:

In the words of Jas, what a SEX GOD. At least Slaggy Lindsay was nowhere in sight, (she was probably redeeming that one-way ticket to Vulgaria.)

Alas, it's since been revealed that Eleanor and Ed were just presenting an award together and Ed is actually rumoured to be dating this gal instead.

Is Eleanor Tomlinson related to Louis Tomlinson?

Nope. Despite the same surname, there is no relation between Eleanor and the One Direction star.
