When it comes to being an X Factor contestant, Ella Henderson has been there, done that in 2012, and at the time she was rumoured to be dating Union J’s George Shelley.
Speaking exclusively to heat on the red carpet at the Attitude Awards, Ella, 18, gave some romance advice for this year’s X Factor contestants.
She said: “You've just got to enjoy the whole process and embrace it for what it is. When we did it I was in a hotel, I didn't know they were in a house [this year] so that must be a very close. And the living habits… I can't imagine how that is. Just enjoy it and have fun."
Rumoured romances this year have so far included, Stevi Richie and Helen Fulthorpe – who were rumoured to have got close at Judges’ Houses, and Stereo Kicks’ Jake Sims and Betsy-Blue English from Only The Young.
Stevi told us: “I love Helen, absolutely love her. She’s a lovely girl, I love her a lot but not in that way, of course, we’re just good friends. That’s all we will be. What we were doing at Judges' Houses; it was more flirtation from my side.”
And speaking about Jake, Betsy told us: “We laughed at that – there’s no time for romance!”
But after X Factor there is time for romance for Ella, as it was revealed earlier this year that she is dating Matt Harvey. And there is still room in her life for her record label boss and X Factor judge Simon Cowell, who is still hands on.
Ella told us: "I was just texting Simon upstairs, he's very happy and proud because the album has just gone to number one – it was out today [13 October]. It's not fully Number One so I haven't had a present from him yet, just congratulations for me is enough from him."
Ella Henderson's album Chapter One is out now.
