Ella Henderson’s father, Sean Henderson, has been charged with money laundering.
The former* X Factor* contestant’s dad has been charged with seven offences in total, all relating to fraud and theft.
He’s been released on bail and is due to appear in court in Sheffield in July.
Three others have also been charged, according to police.
The Sun reports that Ella is a state of shock.
"Ella is close to her family and devastated about the charges," an insider told the paper.
The singer’s mum, Michelle Henderson, was also initially arrested in connection with the investigation but has been released without charge.
A spokesperson for Ella said: "Due to legal reasons, Ella Henderson has been advised not to discuss the ongoing proceedings involving her father.
“However Ella's thoughts are, of course, with her father at this difficult time for her and her family."
Ella is currently on tour with Take That after coming sixth in the talent show in 2012.
She crashed out of the competition in a shock exit, but was subsequently signed to Syco Music. She’s since had huge chart success with the single Ghost.
