Ellen Page declares “love” for Samantha Thomas on Freeheld red carpet

Ellen Page went for a little stroll down the red carpet with her girlfriend Samantha Thomas. No biggie. But she also publicly declared her love for the blonde surfer.

Yep, that's a biggie. Or 'macking' news if we were to use surfer talk. But we won't, even though we once owned a shark tooth necklace, we're definitely not surfers.

It's the first time the pair have walked the red carpet together and they looked smashing in their similar tuxedo suits. The rouge rug was there to promote Ellen's new film Freeheld, which is about a lesbian couple battling for domestic partner rights.

It was this film that led Ellen to come out publicly during an emotional speech at the Human Rights Campaign's Time to Thrive conference back in February 2014.

On the film's red carpet at Sunday's Toronto International Film Festival she told* E! news*: "I'm in love.

Speaking about how the film inspired her, Ellen told Out Magazine: “I remember thinking, Ellen, how in God’s name could you make this film and not be out?”

"What's interesting to me is how long it took to make the movie — for it to finally come together — and how my internal progression toward coming out was naturally in line with it."

Later that night Ellen posted a snap of herself and the Freeheld crew, including her girlf, Sam, and added the caption: "Leaving for the #tiff15 @freeheldmovie premiere with these amazing people ❤".
