Proving that she has a fun and quirky personality to match those dazzling good looks (sigh), Emma Watson’s acceptance speech for her British Artist of the Year award was a hilarious yet moving tribute to a dead hamster.

The actress dedicated her Britannia Award to her onset pet, named Millie, who died from a heart attack during the shooting of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Emma, possibly the UK's finest example of eyebrow grooming, told the giggling crowd: “The British film industry hasn’t just been a workplace for me, it’s been the place that I grew up - a surrogate family really. And a sweet but slightly morbid example of this is when on the first Harry Potter film my onset hamster Millie had a heart attack and didn’t quite make it.”

She went on to describe how the set decorators honoured Millie’s departure by building her a mahogany hamster-sized coffin lined with velvet.

It's not clear what prompted the heart attack, but maybe it's not such a surprise that a film known to routinely make children cry (that turban scene is TERRIFYING) might push a small hamster into cardiac arrest.

"What I'm trying to say is that you're all very special to me and that your vote of confidence means a lot," smiled Emma, dazzlingly.

"I take it as such a great honour that you're giving me this award tonight. Thank you very, very much and rest in peace Millie, this one's for you," she ended.

We love you Emma.
