Emma Watson has revealed she is taking a year off from her acting career to focus on feminism campaigns as well as her own "personal development.”

The actress told Paper magazine that she considered going back to university to do a year of gender studies during her kind-of gap year but decided instead to concentrate on carrying out her own research on the subject.

She explained: "I'm taking a year away from acting to focus on two things, really. My own personal development is one.

"I almost thought about going and doing a year of gender studies, then I realised that I was learning so much by being on the ground and just speaking with people and doing my reading."

She’ll also be getting her Hermione Granger on by indulging in a loooooot of reading: "My own personal task is to read a book a week, and also to read a book a month as part of my book club. I'm doing a huge amount of reading and study just on my own,” she said.

As well as starting a feminist book club, Emma is planning to continue her role as a UN ambassador along with her work for the HeForShe campaign, so it’s no surprise she wants to take some time away from the day job to concentrate on these amazing projects.

She added of her incredible work for feminism: "I'm on my journey with this and it might change, but I can tell you that what is really liberating and empowering me through being involved in feminism, is that for me the biggest liberation has been that so much of the self-critiquing is gone."

Hear, hear Emma!
