Funnyman Tracy Morgan received a standing ovation when he made his triumphant return to the Emmys last night, 15 months after a colossal car crash that nearly killed him.

Taking to the stage to hand out the gong for Best Drama to Game Of Thrones, Tracy thanked his friends, family and fans for keeping him going after the horrific accident that killed fellow comedian James McNair.

In an emotional speech to the star-studded crowd, Tracy said: “Thank you so much. I missed you guys so much.

“Last year, Jimmy Kimmel said on this stage, ‘We’ll see you back here on this stage, Tracy Morgan’. Well, Jimmy, thanks to my amazing doctors and the support of my family – my beautiful new wife – I’m here, standing on my own two feet.”

Just as it seemed the 30 Rock star was going to break down, he managed to crack a joke.

“Only recently I’ve started to feel like myself again, which means that a whole lot of y’all women are going to get pregnant at the after-party,” he said.

“That’s what’s going down.”

The fatal car crash happened in June last year when the limo Tracy and James were travelling got hit by a Wal-Mart truck in New Jersey.

Tracy suffered a broken leg, broken ribs and a brain injury that left him in a coma for eight days.
