In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, TOWIE’s Ricky and Jess split following fireworks over his messages to another girl. The mystery recipient was Lydia Lucy, who’s famous for being booted off this year’s X Factor.

But anyone who has ever watched *TOWIE *will know that at the start of every show, narrator, Denise Van Outen says: ‘The people are real, although some of what they do has been set up purely for your entertainment”…so is the Jess and Ricky cheating saga and amicable ending of their romance the full story? We caught up with Ricky ahead of his calendar release at the MediaSkin Gifting suite in London to find out what’s really going on with the Ross and Rachel of Essex…

Ricky, Ricky, Ricky shakes head Did you or didn’t you cheat on your Miss Wright?

“No. I didn’t cheat on Jess – I didn’t touch anyone, I didn’t kiss anyone and I didn’t sleep with anyone. I didn’t even sext anyone. I didn’t even have her [Lydia Lucy’s] phone number. I was tongue-in-cheek and flirty, yes, but not sexual. I never wanted anything from [the messages], that’s why I ended the conversation straight away, I said ‘look, I’m ending this’ and I didn’t speak to her again. And then I got caught out two days later so it wasn’t a case of [coming clean] because I got caught, I stopped because I wanted to. At the end of the day, I realised I had messed up!”

**Can you honestly tell us that there are no other women who are going to slowly creep out of the woodwork? Promise us Ricky! **

“I promise one million percent that there are no other girls! If I had something to hide or if it wanted to come out, in this industry, it would have come out on the show, I don’t need to lie. What I did wasn’t right but there’s nothing more to it. So I can promise you now that it was literally a 30 second, 30 minute tongue-in-cheek conversation.”

[That’s a whole 29 minutes and 30 seconds difference Rick…]

Do you think you’ll ever get back with Jess?

“It’s too hard to really tell at the moment, who knows what’s going to happen in five years? It would be nice, but for now, I don’t think it’s the right time – I wish it was, but it isn’t. She likes to think it’s not the age difference but there are a lot of things for me to still do and I just don’t like having the responsibility of thinking for two – I know it’s a little bit selfish but I feel like at this moment in time. I need to just spread my wings and relax.”

“I think maybe the reason me and Jess didn’t work is because I’m not ready for a relationship that’s got so much pressure on it. It’s hard being in the spotlight and everyone having opinions on your relationship. I just want to go on holiday, lay low and enjoy my life. I haven’t even thought about girlfriends or anything like that but if I was to [get into another relationship], I wouldn’t want it in the public eye just out of respect for what’s been going on, it’ll be the last thing you want to see.”

Do you think being co-stars on the show affected your relationship?

“It’s hard being on the show, they [the viewers] only get a snippet and form an opinion on what TOWIE think will make the best TV so I could say a 100 good things and ten bad things in a scene, obviously things get edited. But that’s TV and I’ve just got to deal with it. But it was the right thing to do, we both know it and hopefully in five years, we might find each other again and both be single and think ‘what the fuck did we do?’ but you never know.”

Are you going to stay friends?

“I hope we can stay friends – I would like to be. I’ve said sorry and want to keep on good terms with her and her family but I’m not their favourite person at the moment – once the dust has settled, who knows? We could end up being best mates. I doubt it, like I doubt I’ll be invited to [Mark and Michelle’s] wedding now but you never know.”

Is the only way for Jess the jungle?

“I was with her for two and half years and if she has lied to me and said she is not and she does then I obviously didn’t know her but as far as I’m concerned, she’s never mentioned it. She’s never said she’s going on [I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here], she has said she’s wanted to but never mentioned that she’s going on it. And if Gemma’s going into the Jungle then Jess definitely isn’t going to be on it. They won’t put two TOWIE girls on it.”
