Victoria Beckham’s much-anticipated docuseries drops on Netflix next week, and we’ll admit we’re a teeny bit excited.

But if you’re hoping to hear the warts ’n’ all truth about the feud with son Brooklyn, maybe dial it down a notch – as an insider has told heat a significant number of scenes dealing with the topic didn’t make the final edit, so as not to spark ‘a full-blown retaliation’. Our source says David – whose Studio 99 company produced the show – was forced to intervene, despite his wife’s desire to ‘go deep’ in all areas of her life.

We’re told, ‘Vic has been more open than ever in this series – there are moments where you can see she’s really vulnerable. She doesn’t sugar-coat anything and talks about things she’s never spoken about in public before, like how bad the financial situation at her fashion label got. But there were certain things that David felt would create headlines for all the wrong reasons, so those scenes were chopped. Vic wanted to take an access-all-areas approach – this was the rawest she’s ever been – but it ended up causing drama between her and David, and even the kids were shaken by how much she revealed.’

The source continues, ‘She spoke about everything – her fears over headlines about Romeo being labelled a Lothario, her upset about his split from Mia Regan, the big age gap between Cruz and his girlfriend Jackie Apostel, as well as her worries about Harper growing up in the spotlight. But it all struck a nerve and had to be cut or edited after huge rows with David, who said they needed to protect the family. She also spoke about her relationship with Nicola and her worries about further estrangement from Brooklyn, which David forced her to cut, too.’

The trailer for the three-part series landed earlier this month and 26-year-old Brooklyn didn’t feature in it at all, while his siblings, Harper, 14, Cruz, 20, and Romeo, 23, all did. It was reported Brooklyn would appear in scenes filmed at VB’s 2024 Paris Fashion Week show, but the final edit is unlikely to have any more than a passing mention of him.

The relationship between the Beckham clan and Brooklyn and Nicola, 30, went from bad to worse this year, with the pair missing all of his dad’s 50th birthday celebrations, and the couple and his brothers all unfollowing each other on social media. It culminated in Brooklyn and Nicola renewing their wedding vows with none of his family present.

None of the Beckhams have commented on the rift, but we’re told VB, 51, did want to share her side of the story – much to David’s frustration. ‘He was absolutely furious when he saw how much Vic spoke about the Brooklyn situation. He warned her that even the slightest hint of public criticism would likely make things much worse and cause them to hit back even harder,’ explains our insider.

VB’s Netflix series – simply titled Victoria Beckham – comes after David’s own successful documentary with the streaming giant back in 2023, which saw Victoria impress viewers with her hilarious one-liners.

But, as heat reported, there were ‘a lot of tears’ during filming her series, because it was ‘a lot more emotional than producers originally thought it would be’.

In the trailer, we see Vic break down as she speaks candidly about her fashion label falling ‘millions’ into debt. Viewers will also hear her talk about her desire to be loved, and how she wants David and their kids to be proud of her.

Our source adds, ‘There was a lot of tension in editing. Vic wanted this to be her most revealing project ever, but in the end, David’s protective streak won out. A lot of incredible moments are now sitting on the cutting room floor because they just felt too explosive.’
