“Family life and being a musician aren’t that compatible”: Charlie Simpson has gone all adult on us

We doubt Charlie will be downloading Air Guitar any time soon

We’re still bemoaning the fact that Charlie Simpson didn’t sign up to be in McBusted, but you’d be a fool to think that HE is.

He’s got a new live tour this year, and he’s done an interview with Fault magazine. And boy has he matured. He’s got married for a start, and basically turned into an old man (still got those eyebrows, though).

“When I was younger I loved just getting out on the road, and I still do. I love making music, but I love getting out and playing music just as much.

“But that’s getting harder as I get older. Family life and being a musician aren’t that compatible, there has to be a balance,” he told Fault.

“One of the themes of [my album] is how you can be in a dark place, and be unsure of what is going on, but the one constant is family.

I’m really blessed to have a loving family, and that will never change. I’ll always have my family, my wife, and (hopefully) my kids.”

In fact, Charlie may be so old now that he may have ENTIRELY FORGOTTEN who Busted are, and that he was ever a part of the band.

“As a solo artist I get complete creative freedom. In a band, it has to be majority rules; if you write something you really like and one other member doesn’t like it, it really makes you question things.”

Nope, we think Charlie’s referencing Busted there. Or Fightstar or This Is Menace, but we’re going to choose to believe that he’s talking about Busted.

So he definitely isn’t going to join McBusted – but he is going to carry on being a muso in his own right.

Catch Charlie live on his solo acoustic tour during January and February.
