Despite their short-lived split at the end of 2018, Coronation Street actress Faye Brookes and former Pop Idol star Gareth Gates announced the lovely news that they were engaged in January, with the couple looking more loved-up than ever.
However, in one of the biggest celeb shocks of the year, the couple split up again earlier this month, calling off their engagement.
A source close to the pair told Manchester Evening News, "Faye and Gareth are both extremely sad about their relationship ending.
"They still care very much about each other and want to remain friends, but the wedding has been called off. Her family and close friends have been supporting her through the split."
Now, after posting a number of inspiration quotes to her social media pages, Corrie star Faye has broken her silence on the matter, writing a message on Twitter.
She wrote, 'It’s been a really weird week. I’ve been throwing myself into the gym pretty much everyday, anyone who knows me knows how much I love training and keeping fit! It’s great for your physical and mental health. I’m a member of several gyms in Manchester including the fab Barry’s Bootcamp.
'So (yesterday) there was a pap outside the gym when I got there, taking pictures of me & getting very excited with his camera because I walked in with one of the trainers from the gym – who is a friend.'
Faye then pleaded, 'Just let a girl be, please.'. [sic]
Fans were quick to share their support, one wrote, 'Just keep doing you babe ,and don't give those ignorant people any of your time . We support, love and respect you and your privacy. ♥️' [sic]
Another added, 'Don’t be minding them Faye , that’s horrible to hear , you should feel like his in your home town , they should respect you and leave you in peace ❤️ you can’t be yourself and feel good with these pap thinking stuff and assuming it’s something more than it is❤️'. [sic]
