Fearne Cotton’s grandmother has sadly passed away at the age of 93, and the TV Personality has paid an emotional tribute online.

The former Radio 1 presenter, who is currently pregnant with her second child, took to Twitter both to announce the loss to her followers, and pay respects to her late grandmother.

Fearne wrote: “The night before last my dear nan Ruby peacefully slipped away in her sleep. 93 amazing years. The stars will shine brighter tonight."

And many of her fans were quick to offer their condolences.

Fearne has always made it clear that she was very close to her nan, as she often sent tweets out about her and spoke of Ruby on her radio show.

She also added several pictures to Instagram in memory of Ruby. The first was a ruby-red diptyque candle burning, captioned: “A ruby red candle burning bright for me dear nan Ruby who peacefully slipped away in her sleep the night before last. She was happy until the end and we are all left with lovely memories. Sleep well nanna.”

A throwback picture that read: “A total beauty. Nan Ruby”, showed a younger sepia image of the 93 year old, and a family photo showed Ruby with all of her grandchildren.

This was captioned: “And surrounded by all her grand children and their partners #happymemories.”

A touching tribute, Fearne.
