Ordinarily very private presenter, TV presenter Fern Britton has given viewers a rare insight into her sex life. The 67 year old – who split from ex-husband, TV chef Phil Vickery, four years ago – has revealed that she has fears over being with another man as she doesn’t want to be ‘critiqued badly’.
In a recent interview, Fern said she finds sex daunting, saying, ‘It’s more about exposing yourself to a stranger’s eyes and thinking, “Will I be critiqued badly? Do I want to be critiqued?”’
The Strictly star shocked fans back in 2020 when her 20-year marriage came to an end. While her ex was spotted kissing her close friend Lorraine Stanton back in 2022, Fern insisted that she wanted to stay single, but it seems she’s now ready to find love. The former This Morning host stipulated that she isn’t seeking ‘sex for sex’ and doesn’t want to involve ‘accessories to wear or use’, saying instead she wants a more traditional and intimate courtship. ‘I want the ideal sex, which is romantic, gentle, fulfilling and looking into each other’s eyes,’ she said.
‘And then, of course, I’d have to perhaps go for somebody with a big beer tummy and hairy ears. Well, if I love him, that will be fine! To be seen, that’s what we would all prefer.’
Since her split from Phil, 63, Fern has turned her focus to writing romantic novels. Hopefully life imitates art and her next leading man is just around the corner.
