Fifi Geldof suffering “bleeding ears” and “coughing blood” after contracting viral pneumonia

Fifi Geldof is suffering from a horrific bout of pneumonia which has left her with “bleeding sore ears” and “coughing blood”.

The daughter of Bob Geldof told friends of her suffering in a post on Instagram as she shared a picture of the terrible symptoms.

She wrote: “So it’s not winter flu as I thought. I have f**king viral pneumonia. Winning at life. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.”

She added: “Dryly coughing blood, bleeding sore ears, fever, shakes and aches, body almost too weak to hold its own weight, chest pains, shortness of breath, loss of appetite.”

The Geldof family has been struck by tragedy after Fifi's sister Peaches Geldof died from a heroin overdose in similar circumstances to her mother Paula Yates in April this year.

Fifi also suffers with depression and has made no secret of her battle with the illness.

She was inspired to speak out on the matter after actor Robin Williams, who also suffered from the condition, died earlier this year.

She told the MailOnline: “I woke up crying about everything and nothing. I remember thinking, ‘What the f**k is going on in my head. Why do I feel like this?’

“It’s confusing and it makes you feel quite lost within yourself. It wasn’t a slow and gentle descent into depression. Something totally switches in your mind. I’m still trying to work out what’s wrong with me now.”
