Getting hitched in celebsville doesn’t have to be a big deal. Sometimes saying 'I do' is just what they do on every third Tuesday. We almost forgot these stars were even together and so did they, probably…
Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Esposito

It lasted just four short months, but in October 2006 Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Esposito were calling each other Mr. and Mrs. Marrying in the South of France, the couple who had met doing the rounds on network TV were officially divorced by November 2007. Ever the romantic, Cooper referred to his first marriage as, 'Just something that happened'. Jennifer however, despite never confirming or denying she was talking about her ex-hubby wrote in her 2014 memoir, Jennifer’s Way, 'The relationship was about him and what he needed, and nothing else. I was a non-issue. I became sidelined from my life, my needs, my health. I became very sad and I felt very alone, but I stayed in the relationship.' Adding, 'He was funny, smart, cocky, arrogant, and a master manipulator.' We’re guessing they’re not on each other’s Christmas card list.
Patrick Dempsey and Rochelle Parker

When Patrick 'McDreamy' Dempsey was just 18 years old he met acting coach, Rochelle Parker, 44. Despite the age difference, the unlikely couple would go on to wed in 1987, and remained together for nearly a decade. Rochelle was widowed with three children, one who was older that Dempsey and would eventually become one of his best friends. But fearing the stigma, they had kept their relationship secret for years. However, it wasn’t to be a forever love and in the latter years both Rochelle and Patrick were dogged by cheating and abuse allegations and they divorced in 1994. Sadly, Rochelle passed away in 2014. Dempsey later said that the marriage was a, 'Freudian nightmare that is public knowledge.' And 'I think I needed a mother. There were a lot of negative things that I’m still undoing from it.'
Julia Roberts and Lyle Lovett

It was on the set of film, ‘The Player’ that Julia Roberts then 25, met her first husband, country singer Lyle Lovett, 35. Although she claims that she had long before they met been been a fan of his music, things turned romantic very quickly when they met IRL. The couple married after just three weeks of dating, eloping in June 1993 and enjoying a classic church wedding. But just two years later they were both, albeit amicably saying 'I don’t' announcing their split in March 1995. Roberts said of the break-up, 'You'd think people who could be that nice to each other would probably be a couple, but it just sort of wasn't the way it was intended to be. We found our little niche and then overstepped it a little bit. In fact, I think it can just as often be the weaker choice to stay.' For his part Lovett described their union as 'a special time'.
Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds

Long before Ryan Reynolds was telling everyone to stop picking on his very pretty and talented wife Blake Lively, he was married for two years to Scarlett Johansson. Yes, in 2008 Scarlett Reynolds was a thing after the pair tied the knot in a wilderness retreat in Canada. But all that fresh air only made for a brief two-year union, and they split in 2011. And even though rumours that he cheated on her with Blake Lively were rife at the time of their separation, Scarlett has referred to her ex as 'a good guy'. Publicly at least, time apart was blamed for the breakdown of their relationship. The couple’s joint statement read, ‘After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage. 'We entered our relationship with love and it's with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated.' Ryan has not commented on his first marriage, but the former spouses caused a stir earlier this year when they nearly bumped into each other on the red carpet while attending the SNL 50th anniversary celebrations.
Uma Thurman and Gary Oldman

In 1990 Uma and Gary embarked on a two-year marriage. He was 30, she was 18 and frankly it seemed destined to fail. While she has called her first husband a 'truly great actor'. Uma also calls her marriage to him a 'mistake'. Uma who later married and divorced another fellow actor Ethan Hawke said of Oldman, 'We met when I was 18. he was 12 years older. It was a crazy love affair that ended as it needed to. He was my first love. I had no prior experience.' Oldman who seems to love collecting wives said of his second of five wives, 'I don’t think it meant very much to either of us.' How romantic.
Jennifer Garner and Scott Foley

It’s hard to imagine a time when Jennifer Garner wasn’t busy rescuing ex-husband Ben Affleck from himself and his many relationship woes. But what you may not recall is that Jen is no stranger to relationship errors herself. In 2000 Jen married actor Scott Foley after two years of dating. A year later Jen starred in TV series Alias and was ceremoniously catapulted to the big time. At the Oscars in 2003, Jen walked the red carpet without her husband because they had called it quits that very day. She said of their split, 'If we lived where I was brought up in West Virginia, we would probably still be together.' Telling publications at the time, 'Really were the victims of Hollywood,' later admitting, 'I found divorce a crushing experience'. At the time, Scott Foley described the union as 'short lived'. But when Scott was recently asked about his relationship with his ex-wife today due to the fact that they lived in the same neighbourhood Scott said, 'You say hello. You're very civil. I mean, we do not keep in contact because she has her own family, I have mine.'
Tom Cruise and Mimi Rogers

February 1990 signalled the end for Tom Cruise’s first marriage to Mimi Rogers. Mimi who is widely credited with introducing her then husband to Scientology (thanks Mimi) was Mrs. Cruise for three whole years, marrying in May 1987. However, Cruise was soon to meet a certain Ms. Nicole Kidman on the set of Days of Thunder, a meeting that he described as 'instant lust'. And so, it was divorce-o-clock for Mimi and Tom who released a joint statement that said, 'While there have been positive aspects to our marriage, there were some issues which could not be resolved even after working on them for a period of time.' Time was something Cruise certainly didn’t waste, nine months later he was married to Nicole and well, you know what happened there… Mimi would later reveal that while they were married, 'Tom was seriously thinking of becoming a monk. At least for that period of time, it looked as though marriage wouldn't fit into his overall spiritual need. And he thought he had to be celibate to maintain the purity of his instrument.' Colour us shocked.
Kate Beckinsale and Micheal Sheen

Meeting in 1995 when they were both in their 20’s Kate Beckinsale and Michael Sheen were together for seven years before they split in 2003. Kate gave birth to their only child together, Lily Sheen in 1999 and despite the distance between their two homes - Kate residing in LA while Michael lives in the UK, the two have been amicable co-parents ever since. Michael said of their split, 'Ultimately, there is no real blame, life is just hard.' Kate who also credits her ex with being an incredible father said of the fascination with them as former lovers, 'It’s so normal for us, we split up ages ago. We have been not together far longer than we were ever together. But I really love him and like him and we make each other roar with laughter.'
