If you're a Game of Thrones fan then you'll be well aware that this year heralds the final season of the epic show. In the last 12 months we've had hints as to the fate of some of the characters, the final season air date, and now the first look photos from season 8 have been released getting some fans VERY excited.
In less than 24 hours, the photos on Game Of Thrones' official Facebook page, have a massive 6.2K comments and nearly 10K shares! The photos show close ups of members of the main cast, including Kit Harington as Jon Snow, alongside Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, and Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister.
These new photos have excited the show's fans who have taken to social media to leave thousands of comments. One fan posted, 'I’m ready but I’m not ready for it to be over with for good', with another saying, 'I think I’m goin to go mad before april'. [sic]
However, despite all the excitement, many are also craving for the first full trailer to see what's in store when Game of Thrones returns to our TVs later in the year. Although HBO released a teaser trailer last month, confirming the date the show will be aired, it didn't show much more.
Since filming for the new series ended last year, Peter Dinklage revealed how he felt as he said "goodbye" to the character he had played since the beginning of the series in 2011.
"I had my last day on set in July, just over two months ago now and it was very sad," the Tyrion Lannister actor explained.
"This is not only a great TV show to be a part of, but it was an enormous family to be a part of."
In 2018, Game of Thrones was hugely successful at the Emmys taking home many awards, including Peter Dinklage winning Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Despite many being sad that the final season of Game of Thrones is set to air in April, it's not all bad news as there is a prequel to the series, which is due to start filming soon! The spin-off is a White Walker origin story, set before Game of Thrones in the Age of Heroes.
Author of the books, George RR Martin, posted on his website, “The pilot is not (yet) titled The Long Night. That is the title I prefer, but for the moment it is officially UNTITLED.”
While we're waiting for the prequel, you can look forward to the first episode of Season 8 on the 15th of April at 2am on Sky Atlantic.
