You can get by with a little help from your friends – and that’s exactly what Gary Barlow did when Broadway’s Finding Neverland director Harvey Weinstein called to offer him a job.

The show will open next month on New York's Broadway and at a special launch night, Gary told us how he landed the job of writing scores for the musical – which features vocals on the musical’s soundtrack album from the likes of Rita Ora and Nicole Sherzinger.

Gary recalls: “James said, ‘I’m going to give you one name here and you’ve got to call this guy up’. So he gave him my name. He [Harvey] didn’t know who I was but he went home and he said to his wife, ‘James has given me this guy’s name’ and Harvey’s wife is British, so she said, ‘I know who this guy is… in his day he was quite good’.
