In a video for MTV, Sophie said: “I’ve lost hair on the sides and that might never come back. It’s because of all the years I’ve been tormenting my hair.”

She also warned others about the dangers of hair extensions, saying: “So going forward I want to start looking after my hair and I just want to make people aware that if you are getting extensions give your hair a break in between because you don’t want to end up with bald patches like this.”

In the video the reality star shows the full extent of her hair loss, revealing bald patches on the side of her head.

Traction alopecia is a form of gradual hair loss caused primarily by a pulling force being applied to the hair.

As well as from having extensions, it can be caused by things like having a very tight ponytail, tight braids, dreadlocks, tight hairpieces and hair weaves.
