Coronation Street star Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Battersby in the soap, has posted an angry tweet slamming a fan who asked for a selfie with her in a doctors surgery.
She revealed that the fan had called her ‘rude’ for refusing the picture, and argued that it was an inappropriate place to ask.
Georgia wrote: “Since when was it deemed acceptable to ask for selfies in the doctors reception?
"You have no idea what I’m here for and it’s completely inappropriate, but apparently I’M the ‘rude’ one for saying no..."
Fans were quick to offer support for Georgia, including her onscreen sister.
Jane Danson, who played Leanne Battersby, wrote: "You are quite possibly the kindest soul I know. Maybe some people should stop and think how ‘rude’ they are? I’ll send Leanne round and that will show them rude."
Georgia then replied: “Aw thanks sis. Love you. And love a bit of Battersby spirit xxx.”
Her other co-star Kim Marsh also replied saying: "Oh good god!! X."
Georgia followed up her tweets with: “Well thank you all so much for your replies to #selfiegate You’ve cheered me up no end And for those asking, I’m perfectly well thank you. Was just a routine thing ( but aggrieved Bristolian didn’t know that) Big love xxx”
She then added: “It was less about being asked for a selfie, and more about the reaction when I politely declined. I was clearly uncomfortable but was called rude and she said something about “posting this on Facebook”. I never usually say no to anyone but I felt vulnerable
