If you live in Glasgow - keep an eye out for some serious Hollywood eye candy.

Because while the whole world has been going bananas about the royal baby, Gerard Butler has been quietly buying up luxury bachelor pads in Scotland.

According to the* Daily Record* newspaper, the Hollywood heartthrob, who is originally from Paisley, has splashed out on a swanky apartment in Glasgow's South Side.

Property records show he spent £582,000 on the pad near Eastwood Toll, Giffnock, snapping it up just a few weeks before it went on the market. The flat boasts three bedrooms, a private balcony, drawing room and underfloor heating.

So is Butler leaving Hollywood to return to his homeland? Not quite - he's using it as a base between his New York and LA homes, so he can make more trips back to Scotland.

But he IS feeling homesick - the paper reports he's been searching for months for a Scottish base:

“I grew up loving being Scottish and have a real passion for home and family. That is the hardest thing about being an actor and living in LA" he said.

“In this job – and I’m not complaining – there’s lots of moving around and not a lot of spare time to maintain the ties and closeness you have to family and close friends.

“I love living in LA, and Dubai and Australia, too. They are amazing places to spend time in and, in the short term, are exactly what I’m after but, in the end, I want to move back to Scotland – back to my roots.

“Whenever I go home, I always return to LA feeling more like myself, that little bit more bullish. Life in LA can be a bit soft. I like to come back with Scottish attitude.”
