After the shocking news two weeks ago that Zayn Malik had been chargedwith four counts of harassment for an altercation involving his girlfriend’s mother, it seems the singer might be gearing up for a painful custody battle over his daughter. Zayn shares 13-month-old Khai with girlfriend Gigi, and a source close to the 26-year-old model tells heat that while she’s heartbroken about splitting with Zayn and the situation with her mother, she’s not planning on holding back.
“This whole thing is just so heartbreaking for Gigi and she’s still in shock,” our insider shares. “The tensions had been building for months because they were really struggling as a couple, but when Gigi ended things Zayn just went off the deep end. But he is in no position to be acting self-righteous and misunderstood, in fact it’s only making Gigi more determined to set the record straight with a tell-all interview once all the legal drama calms down.”

Last week it was reported that a business associate of Zayn’s said, “Gigi and he co-parent Khai, but any suggestion he has aggression issues or cannot be trusted to care for her, is something he will fight against with every ounce of his body.”
Zayn was accused of allegedly pushing Yolanda, 57, into a dresser as well as calling her a “f**ing Dutch slut” and telling her to “stay away from my f**ing daughter”.

It has also been claimed that Gigi and her family have been worried about Zayn for a while and were trying to encourage him to get help for his heavy cannabis use and anxiety issues. Our source tells us Gigi wants what is best for him, but ultimately her priority is protecting her family.
“Gigi is just thanking her lucky stars that nobody got badly hurt and it’s her biggest wish Zayn now looks in the mirror and does some soul searching with a view to permanently change himself for the better,” we’re told. “Realistically she knows he’s equally likely to dig in and defend himself, pointing the finger back at her and wanting people to feel sorry for him. That’s why she’s siding with her mother and going on the attack. Put simply, people need to know the truth.”
