Girls Aloud reunited for a cause close to their hearts over the weekend as they honoured their band member Sarah Harding, who died last September from breast cancer aged 39.
Cheryl, Nicola Roberts and Nadine Coyle took part in the Race for Life in Hyde Park, while Kimberley Walsh ran the designated 5km during her family holiday, later catching up with her bandmates via FaceTime.
The girls took to their respective Instagram profiles to share some highlights from the special event, all noting how their late friend would have loved the day which was attended by thousands of fans.
Cheryl, 39, emotionally told the crowd that she had “never experienced or anticipated this grief” before writing online about her Love Machine hitmakers, “I had such a gorgeous day seeing and catching up with you all. You made it easier and much better. Sarah would be so happy! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming together to try and fight this! I love you 💖🙏🏼.
Nicola, 36, shared a nine-minute livestream to her grid, where the girls, including a virtual Kimberley, reflected on the race and had a giggle as Cheryl failed to understand it was a live video.
“What an incredible day 💕 Thank you so much to everyone that came out to join us at the race today. I can’t tell you how magical and how much easier you made it for us. I hope you all got home safe and we look forward to sharing what else we’re doing to raise funds and awareness for this horrible disease. Lots of love ♥️,” Nicola penned.
Meanwhile, Nadine, 37, said that Sarah would have loved everyone coming together for a great cause, as Kimberley, 40, shouted out ‘her girls’ and thanked those who joined the race.
Girls Aloud are hoping to raise funds for a medical kit to help detect cancer earlier. For more information, or to donate, check out Race For Life.
