Jeremy McConnell was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison this week after failing to complete the community service he was ordered to complete after attacking Stephanie Davis.

But while the former Hollyoaks star has remained quiet on the situation, her pal chose to wade in when he tweeted about Jeremy.

Jay Roberts took to Twitter after the former CBB star headed to jail, writing, "It was always going to happen. Absolute d*******".

But fans of the troubled star were less than impressed with Jay's opinion and quickly hit back, questioning whether he'd have the guts to say it to Jeremy's face.

One fan replied, "He’ll always be Caben’s father whether you like it or not.

"When he grows up he’ll be calling him Dad and you’ll be just that wet lettuce lurking in the background."

Another also wrote, "The question is, would you say it to his face?"

Jeremy was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and ordered to complete 200 hours of community service for attacking Stephanie.

However, when he ditched it to get a hair transplant and a new set of teeth, he was ordered to spend 18 weeks in prison.

Judge D J Williams said, "After trial I convicted you of a vicious alcohol-fueled attack on your partner and the mother of your child.

"I was anxious to protect other women from your violence in future, so I gave you a suspended sentence with rehabilitation requirements. Your solicitor said it would be unjust to activate that sentence.

"I sentence you to 18 weeks of imprisonment out of the original 20."

Jeremy's ex - and the mother of his son Caben-Albi - tweeted in light of the news, "Thank you for your love, faith and support. It means alot".

Jeremy is thought to be appealing the sentence.
