Gok Wan made a career from being a fashion stylist, bursting onto our screens in 2006 when he got the nation to strip off on How To Look Good Naked.
More recently, he’s been spinning the decks as he DJs all over the UK and Europe, as well as providing even more music in our lives as the co-host of Magic Radio Breakfast with Harriet Scott.

Gok, 50, spoke to us about his career in TV – and now, on the airwaves…
How did it feel getting the Magic Radio Breakfast gig?
They were big shoes to fill, replacing Ronan Keating – the pop star and heartthrob! After seven years of him being on the show with Harriet, I thought, ‘I want to do a good job and I want it to be different.’ But, at the same time, I want to continue to give the listeners what they want. I’m very, very lucky. I was hoping that people would take me into their hearts. It’s a very intimate thing, being part of the breakfast show, because you are in people’s cars and their homes. Mine might be the first voice they hear when they wake up in the morning.

Who are your dream guests?
Tracy Chapman, because she’s my favourite artist of all time. Annie Lennox, who I absolutely adore. Sharleen Spiteri [from Texas] I’ve met quite a few times and she is adorable and great. Benson Boone, because of the catsuit, obviously. Phil Foden because I am a big Man City supporter. Elvis Presley, bring him in alive! He’d be amazing. There are so many. The thing is, as you can tell, I can talk to anyone and I’ve got so many questions for everyone. So, I actually don’t care who I’m interviewing because I think people are fascinating and I love talking.

Are you a morning person?
I’m really lucky, because I always wake up early. I’m normally out raving or in the pub until it closes, and that’s had to change. But it’s probably quite a good thing for my liver.
Are you a reality TV fan?
I’m not. I’ve been asked to go on every single one of the shows and I appreciate them for what they are, it’s just never been part of my world. I’m 50, so reality TV is still quite a modern phenomenon for me. I’ve never seen Love Island, other than watching it for Celeb Gogglebox.
Gok Wan is a co-host on Magic Radio Breakfast with Harriet Scott, weekdays from 6am to 10am.
