We’ve got some really sad news to report – GRL are splitting up, nine months after bandmate Simone Battle’s tragic suicide.

A statement reads: "Nearly nine months following the tragic death of band member Simone Battle, girl group GRL announces today that they are disbanding.

"We wish them continued success in each of their next creative endeavours."

More news!

We’re really gutted as they were great – putting out songs like Ugly Heart, which is a total heatworld anthem, so we’re properly sad.

It will have been a very hard year for the girls - Simone was found dead in her LA home in September at the age of 25. The girls were just starting to achieve big success at the time.

They decided to carry on as a four piece after Simone’s tragic death and dedicated single Lighthouse to her.

Lauren Bennett from the band told People at the time: “You can never prepare yourself for something like this, ever.

“I still can't believe it. I don't think any of us can. It's weird that we're even sitting here, talking about it.”

After the band’s break up was announcd, Lauren tweeted:

We’re really sad. Here’s the video from Ugly Heart if you want to reminisce.
