She's putting work above everything

It turns out that ours and Gwyneth Paltrow’s definitions of “off the rails” are slightly different. The 48 year old explained last week, “I drank alcohol during quarantine. I was drinking seven nights a week and making pasta and eating bread. I went totally off the rails. I mean, who drinks multiple drinks seven nights a week? Like, that’s not healthy.”

Yes, we know, Gwyneth, but it’s been a difficult time for us all. And it’s not just the pandemic that has forced the Goop entrepreneur to turn to the hard drug that is ciabatta, as an insider tells us she’s feeling the pressure from every angle, and it’s putting strain on her marriage to TV exec Brad Falchuk, 50.

“She keeps on putting millions into these passion projects and refuses to believe they won’t be successful, even though she’s been teased by some with her weird candles and schemes to make cruises popular again in a pandemic [she announced the launch of her Goop cruises in April],” our source explains.

“She’s working crazy long hours, and Brad is the one who suffers when she’s stressed out. She’s so focused on her work, he might as well be living apart from her again – he just wants her to calm down and not let the work take over.”

“Brad adores Gwyneth to the moon and back, but there’s only so much he can take,” we’re told. “She’s so tunnel visioned with her work and ensuring the longevity of Goop – plus proving her critics wrong is a huge driving force in her world – but there are a lot of people suffering because of her lack of work-life balance. She’s pulling 12-hour days at the drop of a hat, acting grouchy and tense when she and Brad are supposed to be enjoying couple time. She’s relentlessly hands-on and says that there’s not a single job she would give someone else that she wouldn’t enjoy doing herself. That’s all well and good, but there are only so many hours in the day, and she’s got a life outside of work to take care of, too.”
