It’s always awkward when you don’t like a friend’s significant other - do you tell them? Do you try and get to know them better and see if you can get over it? Do you smile politely when they talk to you whilst quietly planning their demise?
In the case of Gwyneth Paltrow’s BFF Mario Batali he just straight up told her. So that’s how the A-list do it, huh?
Back in 2000 a pre-Chris Martin Gwyn was dating fellow thespian Ben Affleck but it seems the actor did not get her friend's seal of approval.
The 43-year-old actress – whose marriage to Chris officially ended last week – has revealed her long-time friend Mario "didn't like" Ben.
Speaking at a dinner at chef Mario's New York City restaurant, La Sirena, she told the crowd: "He was just teasing me about every boyfriend I brought to [Batali's other restaurant] Babbo over the years.
"He liked Brad Pitt, if you want to know. Didn't like Ben Affleck that much."
Gwyneth and Ben first met at a party hosted by studio executive Harvey Weinstein and she has previously admitted the actor "wasn't in a good place" to be in a relationship when they were together.
"He's super intelligent and really, really talented and he's funny," she said. "But he wasn't in a good place in his life to have a girlfriend."
Gwyneth and Brad were together from 1994 to 1997 and even got engaged.
It doesn’t look like Ben was that affected by Mario’s disapproval; he of course went on to marry Jennifer Garner in 2005 before they announced their separation last year. The pair are yet to divorce though, we’re sooooo hoping for a reconciliation!
