She may be an Olympic gymnast, but it seems that training for "The Jump" has taken it's toll on Beth Tweddle.

After being taken to hospital with a bad back injury, she has become the third contestant to withdraw from the competition.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 has said: "The health and safety of the competitors is always paramount and Beth was immediately taken to hospital for treatment after hurting herself during training", the Daily Mail Online has reported.

The first to withdraw from the competition was fellow Olympic medallist Rebecca Adlington who suffered a shoulder injury, as well as actress Tina Hobley who suffered two fractures to her arm.

It has however been confirmed that Rebecca Adlington will be replaced in the competition by a former contestant, Heather Mills, who participated in 2014 but got eliminated in the first round.

Heather, who is the former wife of Sir Paul McCartney said "I am overjoyed to be asked back by Channel 4 to join the competitors to The Jump, as I always felt it was unfinished business. Finishing second overall in the only event I got to compete in, The Skeleton, and having to jump wearing someone else's foot, was pretty bad luck. I never even get to compete in skiing. I know I can do much better, and I am working with my prosthetist to create a foot that has more movement like a human's".
