When did that happen?

Guess who’s back/back again/Yes he’s back/Oh good Christ what the hell has he done to his face/Like, children are going to run away screaming/How does the human face carry that many veins/And why can we see them all.

Yeah, there’s a good reason we didn’t go into rapping. But despite our lyrical misadventures , the fact still stands that Eminem’s face is really freaking weird right now.

He made an appearance at last night’s Wall Street Journal Innovator Of The Year awards in New York and gave a speech honouring his mentor Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine – the co-founder of Beats.

“Dre and Jimmy are like a force of nature,” he said.

“As an example of how powerful they are, they had me fly here all the way from Detroit to speak publicly, and I really hate public speaking.”

There’s speculation Eminem’s face-over is from the years of drug abuse he went through, which he’s been open about in the past.

He got hooked on prescription pills during the filming of his semi-biographical 2002 movie 8 Mile, after being given a sleeping pill to help him cope with the 16-hour days.

In a documentary that came out last year, How To Make Money Selling Drugs, the rapper admitted that he’d almost died from an overdose before he went into rehab in 2005.

“Had I got to the hospital about two hours later, I would have died. My organs were shutting down. My liver, kidneys, everything,” he said.

“They were gonna have to put me on dialysis, they didn’t think I was gonna make it.”

We hope everything's OK now, Em.
