Just two months ago, rumours were rife that One Direction's Harry Styles was set to take on the role of Prince Eric in the live-action remake of Disney's The Little Mermaid. However, the pop star has now revealed the reasons why he decided not to go ahead with the project.

In an interview with The Face, Harry explained that the idea of him playing the role in the new film, "Was discussed," however he has decided to put all of his efforts into his music. Harry was a member of One Direction until their hiatus started in January 2016, and since then he has enjoyed success with a Number 1 self-titled solo album, and his debut solo single 'Sign Of The Times'.

The pop star has also been on the big screen, as part of the cast of the war film, Dunkirk, but it seems that fans will have to wait longer until they can see him on the big screen again.

Continuing his interview with The Face, Harry explained, "I want to put music out and focus on that for a while. But everyone involved in it was amazing, so I think it’s going to be great. I’ll enjoy watching it, I’m sure."

And, according to Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks, Harry's new album will be a surprise to many, "It’s not like his last album," she explained, "It’s not like anything One Direction ever did. It’s pure Harry, as Harry would say. He’s made a very different record and it’s spectacular."

If news of the new album wasn't enough, Harry recently opened up saying he would be up for reuniting with One Direction. In a recent interview with The Rolling Stone, Harry said, "I don't think I'd ever say I'd never do it again, because I don't feel that way. If there's a time when we all really want to do it, that's the only time for us to do it, because I don't think it should be about anything else other than the fact that we're all like, 'Hey, this was really fun. We should do this again.'"
