Has Harry Styles hinted that the new One Direction song IS about Taylor Swift?

The 'break-up song' lyric was a bit of a give away to be fair..

When One Direction released their latest single 'Perfect' everyone assumed it was about Harry Styles' ex Taylor Swift.

Why, you ask? Well there's a certain line that states 'if you’re looking for someone to write your break-up songs about, baby I’m perfect’ and it's no secret to anyone on earth that Taylor is infamous for writing break-up songs (see 'I Knew You Were Trouble', 'Dear John' and 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' for reference.)

Now, Harry has possibly dropped a major hint that everyone's theory is true!

The singer and Taylor dated for a few months before splitting in January 2013, and in a recent interview with the band for The London Session with Apple Music, James Corden made sure to get straight to the point about the track's meaning.

James asked Harry: 'I want to keep talking about the album, if it's OK with you. I would like to talk to you about a song called 'Perfect'. Which I love very much.

'Now listen, listen I don’t want to have any 'Bad Blood' about this, and if this is a problem and we don’t want to talk about it, we can just 'Shake It Off' (they're all Taylor songs, if you've been radio-less this year.)

The 21-year-old replied: 'Obviously, you write a lot of stuff from personal experience, but it doesn't necessarily have to be so literal.

'People can interpret a lot of different things in different ways. And I'm not going to tell someone it's not about what they think it's about, because I think the whole point is - it's about whatever it means to you.'

Taylor has of course written a few break-up songs about Mr Styles himself including the afore-mentioned 'I Knew You Were Trouble' and she too did the hinting-without-confirming thing about her 2014 track 'Out of the Woods.'

Well, the genetically-blessed relationship may have failed but at least they got some great songs out of it!

During the sit-down, the band also discussed their new album Made in the A.M being released on the same day as Justin Bieber's Purpose and played down any rumours of a rift. Niall Horan stated: 'I just think it's been made into a big deal online with the whole Beliebers and the Directioners thing -- they love a battle and stuff -- but it's fine, there's really no competition.

'We've worked hard on our album and we just want people to go up and get it. And we hope they enjoy it, 'cause we enjoyed making it.'

Very sensible boys!
