Think of all the singers-turned-actors out there. There’s the good (Justin Timberlake in most stuff), the bad (Mariah Carey in Glitter) and the downright absurd (Jessica Simpson in The Dukes of Hazzard, anyone?)
Now, please don’t hate us for reporting on this, Directioners, but Harry Styles might be the next singer to go all Hollywood on us.
Director Harvey Weinstein told The Mirror that there’s “no question” the mop-haired lothario will go into the film business.
“I get from him that he wants to. When you meet him, he's super-charismatic,” Harvey told the paper.
“He came to our Oscars party last year and then I went out to lunch with him. I've met him two or three times and he was very interested and charming. I think the guy is a movie star.
“He doesn't even have to audition for me. We offered him a part and he couldn't do the movie because he had the tour. The amount of money their tour did is crazy, so he's got obligations.
“I've no doubt Harry will make a great leading man one day. And he'd have no shortage of female fans queuing for popcorn.”
Harvey is the producer behind flicks like Gangs Of New York, Silver Linings Playbook and Pulp Fiction, so we reckon he knows what he’s talking about.
The question is, will Harry depart One Direction for the movies? Like Harvey says, he’s got “obligations” right now, what with being in the band – but he could quit if he’s serious.
Let’s just hope Harry’s more of a Will Smith and less of a Britney Spears when it comes to acting, yeah?
