After it was announced that Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis had been axed from the soap with “immediate effect” the rumour mill went into overdrive.
But now, in a statement released her agent, the sad truth behind Stephanie’s dismissal has come to light.
“Stephanie's contract was terminated following warnings for lateness, attendance and after a final incident in which she turned up to set unfit to work because of alcohol consumption,” the statement said.
Not good, eh?
Stephanie has played Sinead O’Connor in the show since 2010 and in April had confirmed a new year long contract with bosses.
Speaking at the time Stephanie, 22, gushed about her time on the soap, saying: “I'm really happy. I've been in the show since I was 16 and I'm 22 now. I've kind of grown up here, which has been mental.”
She’s not commented since the statement was released but just before being sacked she posted a cryptic photograph on Instagram which said: “Wake up early tomorrow. Eat a good breakfast. Do you hair and makeup and put on a kick-ass outfit,' the screengrab of text reads.
“Buy your cup of coffee and enjoy every sip of it. Go to work, make that money, and learn something new in the process. Nourish. Grow. Inspire.”
It continued: “Self-destruction is not an option. And let every choice you make be a brick in the foundation of rebuilding yourself.”
