Sad news – Errol Brown, the lead singer from Hot Chocolate, has died at the age of 71. He had been suffering from liver cancer.

A statement from his manager reads:

"Errol Brown MBE passed away in The Bahamas this morning with his wife Ginette and daughters Colette and Leonie by his side of liver cancer.

"[He] was a lover of life and obviously music! I never went into his home, car or a hotel room without music playing.

"Errol was a personal friend of mine who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

"His greatest legacy, his music, will live on."

Hot Chocolate are best known for their 1972 hit You Sexy Thing. The song was re-released when it was featured in The Full Monty in 1997, and reached number six in the UK charts.

The Queen gave Errol an MBE in 2003 for his services to music. He also received an Ivor Novello Award.

Our thoughts are with Errol’s family and friends.
