When you think of Idris Elba you think Hollywood star, part time DJ, a jack of all trades kind of man.
Did you know he also has a thing for fast cars? Very fast cars.
Idris smashed an 88-year-old driving record by travelling at 180.361mph over a measured mile.
The 42-year-old bombed it across the Pendine stands in Wales in a £175,000 Bentley Continental GT to beat the 1927 record set by Sir Malcolm Campbell.
The Brit had to cover a mere mile distance and beat an average speed of 174.8mph to break the long-standing record.
As homage to Sir Malcom, Idris visited the same spot - the south Welsh beach - to attempt and beat the record.
Sir Malcolm Campbell set 13 world speed records and was the first man to pass 300 miles per hour in a road car.
Idris said: "I'm absolutely elated to have broken the Flying Mile at Pendine Sands.
"It's an honour to have taken on the challenge, and to successfully follow in the footsteps of the illustrious Sir Malcolm Campbell"
Idris tackled some tedious tidal conditions during filming for a four-part Discovery Channel series entitled Idris Elba: No Limits.
