The star romantically proposed to his girlfriend, Sabrina Dhowre, at a screening of his own film
Congratulations are in store for movie hunk Idris Elba, after he proposed to his girlfriend that he has reportedly been dating for just over a year.
The 45-year-old actor apparently dropped to one knee in front of an entire cinema audience at the screening of his new movie *Yardie *at Rio cinema in Dalston, London.
SO romantic.
The pair only made their red carpet debut as a couple for the first time in September last year, and the news comes as a bit of a shock seeing as Idris confessed that marriage would not be on the cards again for a while having been divorced twice.
His new beauty queen fiancé, Sabrina, won Miss Vancouver back in 2014 and has an Instagram following that boasts just under 20,000 followers.
The cinema tweeted about the news following Idris' shock proposal, writing "Another @riocinema first! Still 5 days to Valentines Day but @idriselba went down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend live on stage this morning before a preview of his film #Yardie."
Idris told *Essence *magazine last July: "Am I ever gonna get remarried? I don’t think so. Yeah, I don’t think so. Marriage is an institution of sorts. And I’ve done it. It’s not for everybody. It’s not my life’s calling." - so we're not gonna lie, we are slightly confused by the news, although HELLA excited!
