Inside Coleen & Rebekah’s sensational fall-out

Let’s face it, October ninth, 2019 is not a day we’re going to forget in a hurry, thanks to Coleen Rooney and her amazing detective skills.

The 33-year-old star launched a shocking, and very public, attack on fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy and accused her of selling stories on her following a five-month investigation.

In a lengthy post, Coleen – wife of former England captain Wayne – told her social media followers that she had been posting false stories on her private Instagram (which has 367 followers, compared to the 800k she has on public account) after becoming suspicious of some of her friends.

She claimed to have blocked all her followers from viewing her Insta stories except for one person and waited to see if her fabrications appeared in a certain newspaper. And they did.

She continued, "Now I know for certain which account/individual it's come from. I have saved and screenshotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person has viewed them.

"It's... Rebekah Vardy's account."

Becky – who is pregnant with her fifth child – was on holiday in Dubai with footballer husband Jamie and quickly hit back, saying she had nothing to do with the leaks. She then did an interview to protest her innocence and revealed details of her furious phone call with Coleen.

“I said to her, ‘Coleen, what on earth have you done?' It was not an easy phone call,” the 37 year old revealed. “She said to me: ‘I'm not pointing the finger’ and I said, ‘You have just annihilated me in public and hung me out to dry. The whole world hates me!'

"I thought she was my friend but she completely annihilated me. She said, ‘You know, I always really liked you, which makes it harder.'”

When asked if they argued, Becky replied, “That would be like arguing with a pigeon. You can tell it that you are right and it is wrong, but it's still going to s*** in your hair.”

Becky says she has now hired a team of “IT forensic experts” to determine who was using her account and prove her innocence.

She claims she had shared her passwords with about 12 other people and that Coleen had initially blocked her from her account in March but had said it was a mistake when Becky texted to ask why.

But we’re told mum-of-four Coleen is adamant Becky could be behind this and hasn’t trusted her for a long time.

“It’s turning very toxic and it’s a war that is going to divide the football world. Everyone is pretty appalled over the betrayal, but they also suspect there's more at play here,” our insider says.

“Coleen has been wary of Becky for a while and her recent comments to a newspaper about pathetic people who stay with cheaters hit a nerve because all of Coleen’s marriage issues with Wayne.

"It’s well known you don't cross Coleen and Becky kind of made herself the target after those comments. Coleen saw red, which is why she went public on Becky – and she did think long and hard about it."

They added, "No-one could talk her out of it, even when they suggested it wasn't the wisest move, but there seems to be a build-up of deep animosity between them.

"Some are suggesting that Coleen is slightly jealous of Becky, now Becky is seen as Queen WAG. And as much as Coleen laughs at the suggestion, some do feel she's quite resentful – Coleen managed to get a career up and running, but has always been humiliated by Wayne, whereas Becky clearly wears the trousers in her marriage and has really proved how ambitious and determined she is.”

Coleen and Becky first became friendly when their husbands played for England together in Euro 2016. While they appeared to get on, there were always reports of Becky’s determination to steal the limelight.

It was claimed she had demanded to sit behind Coleen at the matches as she knew she would be pictured. It was also claimed Wayne had spoken to Jamie about Becky, as she was getting too opinionated on social media and speaking about the tournament and the team, taking attention away from the players and matches.

At the World Cup in 2018, with Coleen no longer there thanks to Wayne’s international retirement, Becky made herself Queen WAG, doing various press interviews from Russia and organising nights out, clearly loving every minute of it.

Since Coleen allowed Becky into her inner circle three years ago, she felt more stories had been leaked about her, including her pregnancy with Cass in 2017 and a car crash last January.

She has always trusted everyone around her so decided to set her elaborate trap.

“Coleen had seen more and more stories leaked about her and she knew most people she allowed to view her private Instagram didn’t need the money so thought it might be someone who wants more fame or a close relationship with a certain newspaper,” our source says.

“It’s well-known that Becky loves being famous and is always giving interviews so thought it may be her or someone in her team.

"Everyone is sympathetic that Becky or someone close to her has been selling the stories on Coleen, but some of her friends have questioned how personal can they be if it’s what she's posting on social media to nearly 400 people.

"Becky is still adamant it wasn't her who actually leaked the stories – and that as well as others having access to her Instagram, she often passes on gossip to her own friends.”

Becky – who first found fame back in 2001 when she slept with Peter Andre and called him “the worst lover I’ve ever had” – has been accused by previous partners of doing anything she can to be famous.

She took part in I’m A Celebrity in 2017 and has maintained a high profile ever since. But she won’t let this fall-out ruin all her hard work.

“Becky is not going to let Coleen get away with this. She has humiliated her on such a huge scale and didn’t even give her the chance to defend herself,” our insider adds. “Even if Coleen apologises, it’s not enough and she’s already planning on how to get her own back.

"Coleen has messed with the wrong person. She’s has worked hard to build a career in the public eye and won’t let it be destroyed."
