We haven’t heard much from The OC star Mischa Barton for a few years, but last week she came crashing back into the headlines after filing court papers accusing her mum of stealing over $25k of her earnings – and using her as “a personal ATM”.
In the explosive documents, Mischa, 29, claims her mum, Nuala, who was her manager for more than 20 years, “kicked her out of her own home” – the $7.8m, eight-bedroom mansion in Beverly Hills that Mischa paid for.
She also alleges Nuala lied to her about her salary for* The Hoarder,* a film she worked on in 2013, taking extra cash for herself. (That’s on top of the ten per cent management fee Mischa agreed with her mum aged eight, when her career began. Yes, eight.)
Speaking about the case for the first time, Mischa’s lawyer Alex Weingarten tells heat the actress is devastated she’s having to fight her own family in court. “It’s all still raw and emotional,” he says. “It’s a decision she agonised over and she is very conflicted about – she was left with no other options, unfortunately.”
