We were over the bloody moon when it was reported that Jade Thirlwall had scored the lead in the live action remake of Aladdin.
heat loves Little Mix more than life itself, so are veeeery happy with every success they have.
But we’ve been absolutely devastated to learn that Jade’s Hollywood dreams may come at the expense of the band itself.
“The other girls knew Jade had auditioned for the movie, but when Jade realised she actually stood a chance of landing the part, she called a sit-down meeting with the band, backstage at the rehearsals for their tour,” says our Little Mix insider, who says the chat took place on Monday 15 May. “When Jade basically said that if she was offered the part, it was likely she’d need time off the band, things got really emotional.”
Our insider adds that Jade tried to put a positive spin on the news, and the girls discussed how a hiatus would be a chance for them all to work on solo projects, “but there was a lot of crying. Obviously they want Jade to live out her dreams, but they don’t want the band to be over.” The movie, which is directed by Guy Ritchie, is also rumoured to be casting Will Smith as the Genie.
If Jade does land the part (and heat hears there is a good chance that will happen) then there could be an awkward schedule clash. Filming is set to take place between July and next January – and the band have touring and promo commitments throughout much of the summer as well as a full-on UK tour taking place in October and November. “Everyone’s really worried about what might happen to Little Mix,” says the insider. “This is exactly what went down with One Direction – they wanted to work outside the band, and when they couldn’t, the band imploded.”
Little Mix’s reps had no comment when contacted by heat.
