Last week, former _X Facto_r finalist Jahméne Douglas posted a statement on Twitter detailing his suicidal thoughts and 'inner battle'.
He shared a picture of a written message, which began: "I don’t know what to do any more. My mind is plagued with suicidal thoughts whenever my defences are down. I feel so broken, lost and worthless.
"It doesn't seem to matter how much I try to fix myself, who I talk to or what I put in place it always comes back to this."
He mentioned that he doesn't feel like he deserves "love of happiness" and explains he feels like "the devil is inside my head."
He also wrote about his brother’s suicide, saying: "When my brother killed himself I analysed it over and over. Now I am here..."
His fellow X Factor contestant James Arthur reached out to Jahmene writing: "Brother I'm here for you. Answer your phone. I know what you're going through. Pick up. "
And now Jahméne has taken to Twitter again to expand on his previous statement and thank fans for their 'overwhelming support'.
In a post caption 'Sorry', Jahméne explained: "[the post] wasn't intended as a goodbye, but simply me slipping a note under the prison door to see if anybody knew of an escape."
He apologised to fans and said: "I wasn't in my right mind when I posted…
"Thank you to everyone who has reached out."
Jahméne also added: "I was born into abuse so my complete foundations are crumbling bricks.
"I feel as though I've lost my identity – the grasp of that which defines me."
However, he vowed: "I will continue with my music as it’s the only that gives me purpose and I will continue to be honest with myself.
